Smeg dishwasher error code

When something goes wrong in a Smeg dishwasher, it stops working and shows an error code on the LED display. There are quite a number of codes, and each one refers to a particular type of problem. The goal of this technique is to help users detect issues and solve them.

These fault codes are common to dishwasher models featuring 5 LEDs on the display. However, they are different from model to model. Therefore, it is necessary to always have a manual or troubleshooting guide at hand.

In dishwashers that do not feature LCD displays, errors are expressed in flashing and LED indications with respective fault codes in the right-hand column.

This error code indicates a much so common and quite distressing issue: the dishwasher is working hard but not filling.

Usually, it happens when water accumulates in the dishwasher’s tray. When it reaches a level, at which an anti-flood switch is activated. The switch launches the pump, and it continues to pump out water, never letting it fill the machine properly.

There are lots of people who have experienced the frustration of having to wash dishes with their hands. There are several possible causes of the problem. Please, do the following:

Please, follow safety requirements! Unplug the devise prior to doing any work on it.

Check the bottom section. Put a towel or shallow tray on the flow and tilt the machine to the side of the towel. If there is water in the tray, it will come out onto the towel/tray. Make sure that none of the internal parts are damaged. Check each and every part in the section.

If there are leaks in the section, there may be a series of error codes, of the machine will produce a noise caused by the flood switch being activated.

Most likely, an element of the system needs to be repaired or replaced. Once you identify it, check our list of spare parts and choose one that you need.

This one indicates the same problem as the above, except it may be caused by the pressure switch. This component monitors water pressure in the system. It is advisable to check the connection between the switch and the main control board, as well as the switch and the control board separately.

Water Not Heating

If the water fails to heat up to the specified level, most probably, the heating element is faulty and needs to be replaced. Also, the error can occur due to lack of connection between the heating element and the main control board. Check the wiring: it may have gone loose. If damaged, replace the harness. If the wiring is ok, and the error is still there, replace the heating element an/or the control board.

To reset the appliance, open and close the door.

To determine the cause of this problem call the authorised technical service centre.

Filling Problem

If your dishwasher is not getting the set amount of water, there may be a problem with the solenoid inlet valve, which is just not letting enough water in your machine. Also, it is advisable to check the water supply tap (make sure it is on and not faulty) and the inlet hose for loops and kinks.

The dishwasher fails to draw water.

  • the water supply tap is open;
  • the filter in the water intake hose is not clogged;
  • the water intake hose is not kinked or bent;

Turn the dishwasher off and then on again, then press the START/PAUSE button again. If the problem is resolved the washing program will resume from where it was halted.

The dishwasher fails to drain.

  • the flexible drain hose is not kinked or obstructed;
  • the water drain pipe is not obstructed;
  • the dishwasher filter is not clogged;

Turn the dishwasher off and then on again, and then press the START/STOP button again. If the problem is resolved, the washing program will resume from where it was halted.

Flow Meter Detected

This code appears when a dishwasher detects a flow meter, which it actually does not feature one. A flow meter is a device that monitors the amount of water coming in from the household supply system. Try resetting the machine: switch it off, wait a couple of minutes, switch it back on and run a cycle. If the error appears again, there is a problem in the main control board.

Here are problems, which can cause weird error codes:

  • The control board is faulty. Replace the control board. Use professional help.
  • The rinse aid dispenser may be out of order; replace it, if necessary.
  • The door lock is not functioning properly: check and replace it, if needed.
  • The mains suppressor is not working properly, causing electrical interference, which corrupts and/or blocks the PCB.

Overfill

This error appears when the anti-flood system is activated. It happens when water level exceeds the set limit. It can be due to the inlet valve letting too much water in the machine. Also, an overfill can be caused by slow draining due to a blocked drain filter, faulty drain pump, or suds accumulating in the system due to improper use of detergent.
