Beko dishwasher troubleshooting

Sometimes you might notice the problem that the dishwasher does not switch on, drain or even have leaks. These failures are the most common ones. Do not rush to call the specialist since you can handle many problems on your own.

Detergent dispenser lid is left openMake sure that the detergent dispenser lid i; closed tightly after adding detergent
Dishes are not dry at the end of cycleDishes are not placed orderly in the machinePlace your dishes in a way that no water will accumulate in them
Rinse aid is not sufficientCheck the rinse aid indicator and add rinse aid if necessary. Increase the rinse aid setting if there is enough amount of rinse aid in the machine
Machine is unloaded right after the programme is overDo not unload your machine right after washing process is completed. Slightly open the door and wait for evacuation of the steam inside for a while. Unload the dishes afterthe pieces cool down to a touchable level. Start unloading process from the lower basket. Thus, dropping of water remained on a piece at upper basket onto the pieces at lower basket is prevented
Selected programme is unsuitableSince rinsing temperature is low at programmes with short duration, drying performance will also be low. Select programmes with longer duration for a higher drying performance
Surface quality of the kitchen utensils is deterioratedDesired washing performance can not be obtained at kitchen utensils with deteriorated surfaces and it is not suitable to use such utensils in terms of hygiene as well. Also, water can not flow easily on deteriorated surfaces. It is not recommended to wash such kitchen utensils in dishwasher
Tea, cafe or lipstick stains remain on dishesSelected programme is unsuitableSelect a programme with a higher temperature and cycle time
Surface quality of the kitchen utensils is deterioratedTea and cafe stains or other dye spots may not be cleaned in dishwasher when they have penetrated in deteriorated surfaces. Desired washing performance can not be obtained at kitchen utensils with deteriorated surfaces and it is not suitable to use such utensils in terms of hygiene as well. It is not recommended to wash such kitchen utensils in dishwasher

Filters are cloggedCheck if the filter system is clean
Dirty dishes are kept in dishwasher for 2-3 daysIf you are not going to start the machine right after you have put the dishes into it, remove the remnants on the dishes and run the Prewash programme without detergent every Z days. In such cases, do not close the door of the machine completely in order to avoid odour build up in machine. You can also use commercially available odour removers or machine cleaners
Rust, discoloration or surface deterioration occurs on dishesSalt leakage existsSalt may cause deterioration and oxidation on metal surfaces. Pay attention not to spill salt around the salt filling hole while adding salt. Make sure that the salt reservoir lid is tightly closed after finishing the filling process. Electric installation is not groundedCheck if your machine is connected to the actual grounding line. Otherwise, the static electric created in the product causes arcs on the surfaces of metal items creating pores, removing the protective cover on the surface and causing discoloration
Intensive cleansers such as bleaches are usedProtective cover on metal surfaces gets damaged and looses its efficiency in time when it gets in contact with cleansers such as bleach. Do not wash your dishes with bleach

Corrosion has occurred on glass due to soft waterMeasure the hardness of the supply water appropriately and check the water hardness setting. If your supply water is soft (< 5 dH), do not use salt. Choose programmes that wash in higher temperatures (e.g. 60-65C). You can also use glass protective detergents that are commercially available
Foam forms in the machine.Dishes are washed with hand-wash detergent by hand but not rinsed before placing them into the machineHand-wash detergents do not contain antifoam. There is no need to hand-wash the dishes before placing them into the machine. Removing the coarse soil on the dishes under tap water, with a tissue paper or fork will be sufficient
Rinse aid has spilled into the machine when adding rinse aidTake care that rinse aid is not spilled in the machine when you are filling it. Clean any spilled rinse ait with the help of a tissue paper/towel
Lid of the rinse aid reservoir is left openMake sure that the lid of the rinse aid reservoir is closed after adding rinse aid

Improper loading.Follow instructions for use for proper loading procedures. Place dishes so water spray reaches all soiled surfaces. Do not overcrowd the baskets since this will block the water spray.
Insufficient water fill.Check mains water pressure
Filter system needs cleaning.Remove any accumulated or deposited foods. Check and clean them periodically.
Oversudsing - Prewashing with a liquid dishwashing detergent.Rinse items thoroughly before putting them in the dishwasher to remove dishwashing detergent.
Small particles (food or detergent) left on itemsWater not reaching surfaces, dishwasher overcrowded.Check to be sure water action is not blocked by dishes. Check filter system for accumulated or deposited food or detergent. Load dishwasher correctly. Keep filter system clean.
Insufficient water fill.Check mains water pressure
Powder detergent stored too long or under adverse conditions.Use powder detergent within one to two months after purchase. Open one box at a time. Always close pouring spout after each use. Store in a cool, dry place.
Rinse aid supply depleted.Add rinse aid to the dispenser.
Pitting of stainless steel itemsProlonged contact with salty or highly acidic foods or with undissolved or highly concentrated detergent.Remove spots with silver polish. Rewash. Wash soon after use, or pre-wash items if they will not be washed right away. Do not overload cutlery basket. Avoid spilling or pouring detergent directly on flatware. Make sure dispenser cup is properly closed.
Dishes not dryImproper loading.Load so that all items are properly tilted for good drainage. Avoid nesting of dishes and/or silverware.
Rinse aid supply depleted.Add liquid rinse aid .
Scratches on glasswareA water or chemical reaction with some glassware. Usually caused by some combination of soft or softened water and alkaline washing solutions reacting with the glassware. Can be accelerated by poor rinsing, overloading and excessive temperature.The condition may not always be preventable. To minimize the possibility of etching, use minimum amount of detergent.
Use of the appropriate programme.
Use of a rinse aid may also help.
Detergent cakes in detergent dispenser.If using powder detergent, there may be dampness in the dispenser.Make sure dispenser is dry before adding powder detergent. Start dishwasher immediately.
If using gel detergent, the detergent may be left in dispenser too long before using.Start dishwasher soon after adding gel detergent. Do not allow detergent to dry out in dispenser.
Faulty cover.Do not overfill. Cover should close tightly. Check cover for fit.
Improper loading.Do not place large items in front of dispenser.
Old detergent.Use detergent within one to two months of purchase. To assure freshness, buy detergent as needed and no more than one or two at a time. Store in a cool, dry place.
Chipping and breakage of dishes/glassesImproper loading.Load with care following the instructions for use.
Place glassware so it does not touch the other dishes. Remove from dishwasher carefully.
Odour in dishwasherDishes washed only every two or three days.Use the pre-wash cycle at least once a day until a load accumulates, or hand rinse dishes before loading dishwasher.
A dirty filter system may contribute to a bad odour.Clean filter system.
